INSTRUCTIONS for APPLYING for the BLACKSTONE/FRANKLIN SQUARE NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION SCHOLARSHIP
1. Fill out the Personal Information Form below and hit the “submit” button when you are ready.
2. Write a Personal essay on any one topic from the list below (it’s your choice which). Please use specific examples wherever possible. Your essay need not and should not exceed 1,000 words. Submit your essay via email to us at this address: bfsna@blackstonefranklin.org. (Be sure to include your name at the top of the essay so we can properly credit it to you and your application.)
a. Write about growing up in the South End, or other Boston neighborhood, and how your neighborhood has helped shape the person you are today.
b. Tell us about your hopes for your community, and how you plan to make an impact after you graduate.
c. Tell us what you hope to get out of a college/vocational/trade school education, and what, if you’ve decided, you’re planning to study. How will this education help you?
3. Our standard scholarship award is $2,000. If you wish to be considered for the Andrew Parthum Scholarship for Outstanding Community Achievement ($3,000), please compose and submit a second essay telling us about your involvement and contribution to the community, and how you’ve made the South End a better place.
4. Your application must be received by May 15, 2021.
5. BFSNA will contact you to set up an interview, which will be held during an evening within two weeks after May 15.
